Lumin supports MEVIR with the construction of 47 social houses in Tacuarembó

Agosto 06, 2024

Sustainability is at the very heart of our operations at LUMIN. This made it a huge privilege to support MEVIR (Movement for the Eradication of Unhealthy Rural Housing) with the construction of 47 social houses in Tacuarembó.
The ceilings and furniture were constructed using LUMIN TRP (12mm and 18mm), while CDX (12mm Eucalyptus) was used for the structure. Built by Ñandé, this social construction project explored innovative ways to improve housing standards while protecting the planet. It is part of the timber roadmap project promoted by Ministerio de Vivienda of Uruguay, with 17 more houses due to be completed in Rivera this month.
With the keys now handed over for the first houses, it is hoped they will provide a prototype to help shape the future of sustainable housing.
Mara Pisano, Human Resources Manager, was proud to represent LUMIN at the launch event, presenting the key to officially open one of the social housing units. The president of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, also attended to learn more about the project.
